Aiming for a sustainable society

The United Nations and other international communities have adopted the 2030 Agenda that the world and human being will not survive if issues such as poverty, conflict and the environment are left as it is.

Under the philosophy of “No one will be left behind”, 17 goals are set as important guidelines for the international community to eliminate poverty and achieve a sustainable society by 2030.

We believe that Sustainabridge’s activities should also actively pursue this goal and contribute to achieving it.

Commitment

Sustainabridge works on the following goals and their respective targets among 17 goals.

1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere

<Target>

1.1 By 2030, eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day

1.2 By 2030, reduce at least by half the proportion of men, women and children of all ages living in poverty in all its dimensions according to national definitions

1.4 By 2030, ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services, ownership and control over land and other forms of property, inheritance, natural resources, appropriate new technology and financial services, including microfinance.

Sustainabridge’s vocational training program selects young people who face poverty. We believe that their ability to acquire skills and to generate appropriate income in the future can contribute to achieving this goal and target.

4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

<Target>

4.3 By 2030, ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university

4.4 By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship

We believe that our technical/vocational training project can contribute directly to Goal 4. This target is close to our project purpose of Sustainabridge and should be included in our medium to long term plan. We think that it is our mission that many young people acquire the skills necessary for employment and entrepreneurship.

8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

<Target>

8.3 Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services

8.6 By 2020, substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training

The beneficiaries of Sustainabridge’s technical/vocational training program are young people who have had limited access to education due to conflict and poverty. We believe that technical/vocational training for such young people will correct gaps between countries and regions and will have a positive impact on Myanmar’s economic growth. We are also considering a program to encourage graduates of technical/vocational training program and graduates of OJT centers in the future. We plan to provide technical and management support not only for entrepreneurship but also for business continuity.

10. Reduce inequality within and among countries

<Target>

10.2 By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status

10.3 Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome, including by eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices and promoting appropriate legislation, policies and action in this regard

Myanmar is a multi-ethnic nation and has many inter-ethnic conflicts. Myanmar is experiencing remarkable economic growth, but its benefits are concentrated in urban areas. We fear that this bias could lead to ethnic disparities and inequality.

Sustainabridge, we will develop our program in the hope that everyone in Myanmar can stay together Get over “being different.” Build a bridge to tomorrow.”

17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

<Target>

17.16 Enhance the global partnership for sustainable development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals in all countries, in particular developing countries

17.17 Encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships

We do not blieve that we can achieve the goals and targets listed above by ourselves. This requires collaboration with multi-sectors, including individuals, businesses, NGOs, universities, and government relations.

We are looking for partners who can share sympathy with Sustainabridge’s vision and work together to achieve the SDGs.
